At Single Step Running, we use a block periodization training model that includes base training, VO2 max, lactate threshold, and endurance. Not into speedwork? Big goals can still be achieved with consistent, moderate to high volume training over a long period of time.

Coaches Ryan and Jen create guardrails for their athletes. During periods of high motivation, we ensure our athletes don't go off the deep end with extreme volume and intensity. When motivation is lacking, we rally around our athletes ensuring they stick to the plan and keep their big goals in the forefront of their minds. The right balance of volume and intensity supports both injury prevention and recovery, helping athletes stay healthy as they pursue big goals.

There is a lot more to racing than simply following a training plan. Coaches Ryan and Jen provide insights and advice on nutrition, gear, pacing, and more. They also provide in-person support for athletes running Ouray 50 or Ouray 100

Ask a training question on an internet forum, and you will get wildly varying advice. We get to know our athletes on a personal level to help provide the right guidance, specific to their lives and individual circumstances.
